New Year’s Eve in Sopot has for years attracted people who want to welcome the New Year differently than usual – on the beach, to the sound of the waves, with a view of the illuminated pier. Add to that balls in restaurants, parties in clubs and a New Year’s Day walk by the sea. We suggest how to plan your New Year’s Eve trip so that it is comfortable from start to finish.

New Year’s Eve 2026/2027 – when to come?

31 December 2026 falls on a Thursday, and New Year’s Day on a Friday. This means a long, four-day weekend: from 31 December to 3 January. Many people arrive a day earlier so they can check in calmly and get to know the area before New Year’s Eve.

Where to spend New Year’s Eve in Sopot?

On the beach and by the pier

Midnight by the sea is a Sopot New Year’s Eve classic. Many people welcome the New Year on the beach or near the pier – with a view of the bay and fireworks lighting up the sky over the Tricity.

In restaurants and clubs

Every year, Sopot’s restaurants, clubs and hotels prepare New Year’s Eve dinners and balls. You will find the most options around Monciak (Monte Cassino Street) and by the beach. Tickets for popular events sell quickly, so it is worth booking as early as autumn.

At a concert

Last season, for the first time in history, a New Year’s Eve concert took place on the main stage of the Forest Opera (Opera Leśna), and a free, family New Year’s Eve party was held in the village by the pier. The city and organisers usually announce the 2026/2027 programme closer to December – you will find current events on visit.sopot.pl.

Why stay in the centre?

  • No hunting for a taxi – transport is hard to find on New Year’s Eve, and from a hotel in the centre you can walk everywhere.
  • Close to the beach – Bayjonn Hotel Sopot is about 200 metres from the sea, so you can head out to the water just before midnight strikes.
  • A moment of rest before the party – you can return to your room, change and rest between dinner and midnight.
  • A relaxed New Year’s Day – breakfast awaits in the morning, followed by a walk by the sea instead of a drive home.

How to spend New Year’s Day in Sopot?

1 January is the perfect day for a long walk on the beach and the pier. The brave can join the winter swimmers, who like to start the new year with a dip in the Baltic. After the cold air, the best way to warm up is in the hotel sauna, which guests use free of charge, and in the evening you can go out for dinner – for example to the Thai Thai restaurant.

Practical tips

  • Book your New Year’s Eve accommodation as early as possible – it is the busiest date of the winter.
  • On New Year’s Eve the centre of Sopot is crowded, so leave your car in the hotel garage (the space must be booked in advance).
  • Bring a warm jacket and comfortable shoes – at midnight a cold wind blows by the sea.
  • If you are arriving by train, you can walk from Sopot station to the hotel in about 10 minutes.
