The Tricity in 3 days is enough time to get to know the character of each of its cities: the resort town of Sopot, historic Gdańsk and modern, port-city Gdynia. The most convenient way to plan such a trip is with a base in Sopot, which lies right in the middle. We have prepared a ready-made plan that you can adapt to your own pace.

Bayjonn Hotel in the centre of Sopot – an accommodation base for exploring the Tricity

Why stay in Sopot?

  • The centre of the Tricity – by SKM commuter train you can reach Gdańsk Główny in about 20 minutes, and Gdynia in just over ten.
  • The sea every day – the beach and the pier in the morning, a stroll along Monciak (Monte Cassino Street) in the evening.
  • Rest after sightseeing – Bayjonn Hotel guests have free use of the sauna and small fitness room.

Day 1 – Sopot

Spend the first day getting to know the resort at a leisurely pace. Start with breakfast at the hotel (7:00–10:30), then head to the pier and the beach. In the afternoon, stroll along Monciak, see the Crooked House (Krzywy Domek) and pop into the galleries in the centre. If you have more energy, set off on the forest trails towards the Forest Opera (Opera Leśna).

In the evening, we invite you to dinner at the Thai Thai restaurant in the hotel. You will find a full list of places worth visiting in our article What to See in Sopot? 12 Places.

Day 2 – Gdańsk

The Main Town

Take the SKM to Gdańsk Główny station and walk to the Royal Route. Along the way you will see Długa Street, the Long Market (Długi Targ) with Neptune’s Fountain and Artus Court, and St Mary’s Basilica – if you have the energy, climb its tower for a panoramic view of the city. On the Motława river you will see the medieval Crane (Żuraw) and atmospheric waterfronts.

20th-century history

After lunch, choose one of two major museums: the European Solidarity Centre at the former Gdańsk Shipyard or the Museum of the Second World War. Allow at least two to three hours for either of them.

Oliwa on the way back

On your way back to Sopot, you can get off at Gdańsk Oliwa station and walk to Oliwa Park and Oliwa Cathedral, famous for its historic organ.

During the Christmas season, also visit the Christmas market – you will find details in our article The Gdańsk Christmas Market.

Day 3 – Gdynia and Orłowo

The centre and the waterfront

From Sopot, take the SKM to Gdynia Główna. From there, walk to Kościuszko Square, where the museum ships are moored: the tall ship Dar Pomorza and the destroyer ORP Błyskawica. Then continue along the Seaside Boulevard – one of the most pleasant walking routes in the Tricity.

Museums and views

Depending on your interests, visit the Gdynia Aquarium or the Emigration Museum. It is also worth climbing Kamienna Góra hill, which offers a view of the city and the port.

Orłowo

On the way back, stop in Orłowo. The pier in Orłowo and Orłowo Cliff are good places for a peaceful end to your trip.

How to add variety to your trip?

  • A cruise on the bay – on a private boat from Sopot Marina, also to the Hel Peninsula. More in our article A Cruise on the Gulf of Gdańsk from Sopot.
  • The Tricity from the air – we can arrange an hour-long flight over Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia on request.
  • A car with a driver – a convenient way to go sightseeing without worrying about parking.

You will find details and prices on our additional services page.

Practical tips

  • The most convenient way to get around the Tricity is by SKM – the trains run frequently, and parking in the city centres is difficult.
  • Check museum opening hours before you go – some of them are closed on certain days of the week.
  • Bring comfortable shoes – you will walk several kilometres every day.
  • If you are arriving by car, leave it in the hotel garage. More information in our article How to Get to Sopot.

Frequently asked questions

Are 3 days enough to see the Tricity?

For the main attractions – yes. If you want to visit several museums or go to the Hel Peninsula, plan 4–5 days.

Which city should I choose to stay in?

Sopot – it lies in the middle, so Gdańsk and Gdynia are equally close, and in the evening you return to the sea.

Does the plan work with children?

Yes, just shorten the time in museums and add more beach time. You will find ideas in our article Sopot with Children.
